To apply for a transfer, students must follow these steps:
- Log In: Visit the KUCCPS student portal and log in using your credentials.
- Initiate transfer: Click on the “Transfer Application” tab on the dashboard once logged in.
- Enter details: Enter the code of the institution and the program you wish to transfer to and select the reason for seeking the transfer.
- Payment: Make a payment of Kshs 1,000 following the provided payment instructions.
Use the “Click Here to Pay” link to be redirected to a page with eCitizen payment instructions. For M-PESA, use Business Number 222222 and the generated Payment Reference Code.
- Submit application: Submit your transfer application using the provided eCitizen Payment Reference Code and your KUCCPS Studentβs Portal password.
- Monitor progress: Track the progress of your application through the student portal. Both the receiving and releasing institutions must endorse the application, and you will be notified if the receiving institution declines the application.
Important guidelines
- Students can only apply for one transfer during the program’s duration.
- Payments should only be made after completing all application steps to avoid fraud.
- The transfer process is fully automated, eliminating the need for physical forms.

Background and statistics
According to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, 890,654 students were eligible for placement following the release of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
Of these, 153,301 candidates have been placed in degree programs, with 134,743 joining public universities and 18,558 attending private institutions.
Also, 11,991 students who scored C+ and above opted for diploma courses.
This initiative by KUCCPS aims to provide flexibility and ensure that students can pursue their academic interests in institutions that best meet their needs and aspirations.
