In the context of TV decoders or set-top boxes (STBs), an IUC number, or Individual User Code, is a unique identifier assigned to each decoder.
This code is typically used to identify, settle, and manage customer’s subscription accounts for TV decoders or set-top boxes.
In Kenya, several brands of TV decoders use IUC numbers:
a) GOtv: As one of the leading digital TV service providers in Kenya, GOtv decoders require an IUC number for activation and account management.
The IUC number can be found on a sticker at the bottom of the GOtv decoder or on the packaging box.
b) DStv: Similar to GOtv, DStv is another major player in the Kenyan digital TV market, and their decoders also have an IUC number, which is essential for subscribing to their services.
Other digital TV service providers in Kenya, such as Zuku and Safaricom’s Big Box, also use similar unique identification numbers for their decoders.
These IUC numbers are used when
- Making payments
- Troubleshooting connectivity issues, or
- Contacting customer service for assistance.
Subscribers need to have their IUC numbers handy to ensure a smooth service experience.
