How does Roaming Pickup work?
There are two simple ways to use Roaming Pickup:
- Via the M-PESA App:
- Open the M-PESA App on your phone.
- Go to the “Transact” tab.
- Select “Global” and then “Roaming pickup.”
- Provide the Vodacom Agent Number.
- Enter the amount you want to withdraw (minimum TSh 2400 ~~ about KShs 133).
- Confirm all the transaction details and enter your M-PESA PIN.

- Dial *334# on your phone.
- Select “Send Money” and then “M-PESA Global.”
- Choose option 2, “Roaming pick up.”

Do I need to present my ID or passport when withdrawing money?
No, unlike M-pesa, you will not need to present a form of identification, such as your ID or passport, to the Vodacom agent.
What is the minimum and maximum amount that I can withdraw using M-PESA Global Roaming Pickup service?
The minimum amount you can withdraw is KSh 101, and the maximum is KSh 70,000. These limits are set by Safaricom and may be subject to change.
If I withdraw from a Vodacom Agent which currency will I be given?
You will receive Tanzanian Shillings (TSh) when you withdraw cash from a Vodacom agent.
Why am I charged the Forex rate?
The service involves a currency exchange between Kenyan Shillings (KSh) and Tanzanian Shillings (TSh). The Forex (foreign exchange) rate is used to calculate the conversion and is included in the overall transaction cost.
