Accumulated enough Bonga points and wish to convert them to cash?
Whereas Safaricom gives you a number of ways to redeem your loyalty points, it doesn’t offer an option to convert bonga points to cash via Mpesa.
Luckily, there are two options for you:
- Pay yourself via your own till number
- Use a reputable bonga points to Mpesa service
Bonga points to Mpesa solutions
1) Use a bonga to cash service like Waridi
Waridi is an instantBonga Points to Mpesa service created by the team at Brainverse.co, led by Brian Nyagol. This company has been in business since 2015.
The service is available directly via a USSD.
Simply use their website to assess how much your points are worth (according to Safaricom), and the resulting net amount that you will receive after Waridi’s cut.
Before transacting, you need to know the bonga points’ worth that you want to convert.
Calculating your Bonga Points’ worth
Say you want to convert 1000 points. According to Safaricom, 1000 points are worth Kshs 200.
This is what our Bonga Points Calculator shows as well.

On the right of the Bonga Points to Mpesa calculator by Waridi, you will see the net amount that you will receive on your Mpesa. In our case, it was Kshs 165150135

Note that this amount might have changed. Use their calculator to see how much you will receive before transacting.
Alternatively, you can use the Safaricom bonga points calculator to confirm this by dialing 126*2*3# and then choosing option the first option (1: points you want to spend).
Enter the number of points you want to spend. In our case, it’s 1000.
Saf will return with a message like this:
“ You require 1000 Bonga points to make a payment of Kshs 200…”
Thus 1000 Bonga Points are worth Kshs 200.
Take note of the above Kshs figure as you will need this to finish converting points to cash.
Converting Bonga Points to Mpesa cash
Now that you know your worth amount, let’s start a quick conversion:
- Dial *126*2*2#
- Enter business number: 4038069
- Or simply type *126*2*2*4038069# at a go.
- Enter the Mpesa number to receive cash as the account number.
- Enter the amount. Note that this is the bonga points’ worth amount, and not the number of bonga points. So in our case, the amount is Kshs 200, and not 1000.
- Enter your Mpesa PIN to finish the transaction.
Within a few seconds, you should receive 3 messages. One, a Mpesa top-up message, two, a confirmation from Safaricom and three, a confirmation from Brainverse Technologies.

2) Via Lipa na Bonga option
This is a great option if you already have a till number, say you run your shop or online business.
In that case, you don’t need to share your rewards with a third-party service. Simply proceed as though you are purchasing a product or service using bonga points.
Here are the exact steps:
- Dial *126# to open the Bonga points menu
- Select the option that says Lipa na Bonga(Usually number 2)
- Choose Buy Goods or Pay Bill
- Enter your Till or Pay Billnumber
- Enter the amount you want to convert. This amount should not be more than what your bonga points are worth.
Now, you will research the cash equivalents in your till account, which you can then withdraw.
And that’s it.
