While sharing data on Airtel Kenya is technically not possible, except via Gift bundle, in Nigeria, sharing your current data plan couldn’t be any easier, enabled by Smart-SHARE service.

Sharing data on Airtel Nigeria is a convenient way to ensure that your friends and family have access to the internet whenever they need it.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to share data on Airtel Nigeria:

How to share data on Airtel Nigeria

Things to note about Airtel data transfer:

  • Minimum you can share: 3MB per transaction
  • Maximum you can share: 200MB per transaction
  • Maximum you can share per person per day is 200MB
  • You can share data with only 2 people per day, each with a maximum of 200MB
  • You can share data with the same person again only after they have depleted the previously shared data.
  • Available data bundles for data sharing are the regular Daily/Weekly bundles, Monthly bundles, and Mega Packs
  • Validity of transferred data will be the same as the original data. So, if you transfer a monthly data bundle that expires in 2 days, the recipient will only have 2 days, after which the data will expire.
  • Service available to both prepaid and postpaid customers
  • Shared data bundle is not auto-renewed
  • Data sharing PIN is required to share data

Step 1: Change your Data Sharing PIN

  1. If this is your first time using Airtel Data Share service, you need to change your PIN.
  2. Your default data-sharing PIN is usually set to 1234. Change it to something you can easily remember.
  3. Dial *141# from your Airtel line
  4. Look for the option Gifting and Sharing. Should be on the next page of the screen.
  5. Select this option to go to the next page.
  6. Then choose option 1 to “Change PIN – Default PIN -1234.
  7. Enter your new PIN when prompted.

This step is crucial for ensuring the security of your data-sharing process.

Step 2: Share Data (Data Me2U)

  1. After changing your PIN, you can proceed to share or gift data.
  2. Dial *312# on your phone
  3. We are looking for the option of Gifting & Sharing.
  4. In most cases, this option is found on the next page of the screen.
  5. So, enter “*” to go to the next page
  6. Now select Gifting & Sharing option (was number 14)
  7. Choose Data Me2U
  8. Then go to Send Me2U from existing allowance
  9. Enter the Recipient Number to send data to
  10. Enter Data Allowance MB. This is the amount you wish to transfer.
  11. Key in your Data Sharing PIN to complete the data transfer.

How to gift data on Airtel Nigeria

Data gifting allows you to buy a data bundle plan for another Airtel user.

Things to note about Gifting Data on Airtel

  • You can buy data for as many people as many times as you wish. No daily restrictions
  • Gifted data is not auto-renewed
  • Data sharing PIN is required to gift data
  1. After changing your PIN, you can proceed to share or gift data.
  2. Dial *312# on your phone
  3. We are looking for the option of Gifting & Sharing.
  4. In most cases, this option is found on the next page of the screen.
  5. So, enter “*” to go to the next page
  6. Now select the Gifting & Sharing option
  7. Choose the Data Gifting option

Checking the balance of Airtel shared or gifted data

To check balance, dial *140#
